Arctic Monkeys hitting the studio to record album three

According to NME, the Arctic Monkeys will be hitting the studio this month to record their third album, the follow-up to their 2006 album, Favourite Worst Nightmare.
In an interview with BBC 6Music, Monkeys guitarist Jamie Cook wasn’t sure what direction the album would take.

"I don't know yet, we could go any way. I'm excited," he said. "[At the] end of last year when we had been touring for a long time, we just needed a bit of a rest. But we are eager to get back in."

Of course, Monkeys frontman Alex Turner remained busy through the time off, he put out an album with Miles Kane under the Last Shadow Puppets moniker.

No word on when the album is expected to hit stores. [NME]
