Arctic Monkeys diss hip-hop, Timbaland, Mark Ronson

UK artists are always in the news dissing somebody although I don't know if I'd trust the UK publications printing this stuff up. Yesterday, the tabloids were reporting the Arctic Monkeys were hating on Radio 1, Mark Ronson and the current state of hip-hop. Here are quotes from Gigwise. First up, guitarist Jamie Cook:
''"English radio is terrible, and Radio 1 plays a lot of crap music. I realised that the other morning when I had the radio going.
''"Even music I don'''t usually listen to, like hip-hop, is obviously bad at the moment. There is no real hip-hop any more.''"

Then Alex Turner came up to bat and added:
''"Timbaland is in every video. He is just standing there looking confused.''" Clearly on a roll, he continued to The Sun: ''"I hate all those Pop Idol singers. And let me tell you what I can'''t stand '' that fucking R n''' B (Mark Ronson's) cover of (The Smiths') Stop Me If You Think You'''ve Heard This One Before.''"

Well, I do listen to as lot of hiphop and I can't say he's real far from the truth.

He's right about most hip-hop being bad at the moment. Not sure about the "real hip-hop" comment, though. Just being lazy with that bit.

As if these muppets are in a place to talk about music. They're one of the reasons indy music is so rubbish nowadays.

Mark Ronson's "Stop Me" chorus was not written by the Smiths, their version was written in 1987. That chorus was written in 1980, as performed by Donna Summer on the "The Wanderer" album.
