Remember when we reported that Arctic Monkeys were rumored (or rumoured, if you like the British spelling) to perform at the London Games opening ceremonies? Well, they actually did, and like everything else in the program, their performance was the epitome of Britishness — in addition to playing their biggest hit, "I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor," they covered The Beatles' "Come Together." They didn't mess around with anything experimental either; it was a faithful, meat-and-potatoes cover of the classic.
Other opening ceremony performers included Dizzee Rascal, Two Door Cinema Club and Sir Paul McCartney himself. In other words, the British Invasion was right at home last night. Listen to Arctic Monkey's cover of "Come Together" below.
