Today’s most unexpected Halloween message comes from Arcade Fire, who have shared a creepy and frightening, 20-odd-minute film shot during the band’s 2011 tour. “Festi” is supposed to tell the story of multi-instrumentalist Will Butler’s 27th birthday, which– predictably– goes terribly wrong, turning into a nightmarish episode filled with suspense, guts, and some Shining references courtesy of the National’s Bryce and Aaron Desser.
Speaking of celebrity-world cameos: the short horror film features aplenty, including cult director Terry Gilliam, Slash, Peter Gabriel (as a security guard!), James Murphy, and the bands Fleet Foxes and ZZ Top (not to mention all of the members of Arcade Fire). The ghost of Jim Morrison makes an appearance, too.
