Arcade Fire rocking free shows in Ohio to support Obama

If his recent string of primary victories weren’t enough, this should serve as undeniable proof that it’s Barack Obama’s world and the rest of us are just going to vote for him. If you were faced with a tight primary in Ohio, would the members of Arcade Fire volunteer to play two free shows to support your candidacy? I think not. That, my friend, is the difference between Barack and the rest of us. Though the Arcade Fire is strongly identified with the Canadian indie scene, most of the members have connections to the United States and are invested in seeing Senator Obama take home crucial delegates in the Buckeye State.

Win and Will Butler were born and raised in Texas, Regine Chassagne is a dual citizen, and Jeremy Gara is, according to his publicist, “a really nice Canadian who likes playing music and is sick of explaining to Americans what universal health care means.” The first concert will be Sunday, March 2 at Stuart's Opera House in Nelsonville, Ohio. The show is at 7 p.m., first come first serve. The band will also be playing a free show at the Beachland Ballroom in Cleveland on Monday, March 3rd. Doors are at 7 p.m., and the show is 18 and over, first come first serve.

Who knew the day would ever come where I'd be wishing I lived in Ohio?
