A host of Canadian artists were celebrated this past weekend via the annual Juno Awards, which has been recognizing the achievements of musicians from the country since the early 1970s. Unsurprisingly, Win Butler and his Arcade Fire featured strongly, picking up four awards for The Suburbs.
The band won the Best Album, Group Of The Year, Best Alternative Album Of The Year and Songwriter Of The Year awards at the ceremony, which took place in Toronto's Air Canada Centre. Neil Young also won a couple of awards, for Artist Of The Year and Adult Alternative Album Of The Year for Le Noise.
Richard Reed Parry from Arcade Fire had this to say following their victories: "We're truly overwhelmed. Thank you everybody. Thank you to Montreal, our home where we all live, and thanks to Toronto. Toronto is one of the first places we had, like, really exciting shows and felt like something crazy might be about to happen. And something did. So thanks for being there with us."
