Oh yes, new material from the Montreal-based band de l'annee in 2004 has surfaced and set the indie blogs of the internets en fuego. There are even reports of listeners who cried after hearing the song due to its beauty. My report is that they are a bunch of overcompensating fanboys because this isn't that different from what they've done in the past. To be fair, its a pretty good song that makes great use of an epic-sounding pipe organ. But the drums are a bit on the conventional side and the arrangements and vocals sound like they would fit right in at a Funeral parlor between Neighborhoods #1 and #2 if you catch my drift. All in all, "Interventions" doesn't make me any less excited to hear what the Arcade Fire have up their sleeves for the new album, which will be titled Neon Bible.[Audio:http://media.prefixmag.com/site_media/uploads/mp3s/Arcade-Fire-Intervention.mp3]
