Arcade Fire are just beginning to bring The Suburbs out into the live arena, but it’s a different track that’s caught the attention of music blogs across the web today. The band played in Philadelphia at the Mann Center last night (Aug. 2) where they delivered this cover (above) of Jay Reatard’s “Oh It’s Such a Shame” from the Blood Visions album.
The audience-shot video doesn’t offer much in the way of visual stimulation, but the audio quality isn’t bad, and better versions will almost certainly surface over the next day or so. Arcade Fire's interpretation of the song fits surprisingly well among their other slow-build numbers, and you can compare and contrast the two by watching the incendiary live clip of Reatard and his band below.
