The return of influential producer Richard D. James, AKA Aphex Twin, keeps getting bigger. The producer's upcoming album Syro is his first in 13 years (cover art above), and it seems now he's giving a few lucky people the chance to hear the record ahead of its September 23 release date via international listening parties.
Warp, the artist's label, explains:
Beginning next Friday, over the course of several days there will be one off events internationally where fans will be able to hear Aphex Twin’s first new record in 13 years in its entirety. Ticket lottery begins on Sunday, August 31 at 4AM PST / 7AM EST / 12PM GMT / 1PM CET and closes Tuesday, September 2 at midnight in each time zone.
Few other details are given, including how many tickets will be given, where the specific parties will occur, and how the lottery itself will be conducted, but you can check out the cities and dates of the listening parties below. Warp also mentions that fans can return to that page on Sunday for more details on the lottery.
Aphex Twin recently engaged in a elaborate marketing campaign for Syro including blimp messages and hiding album details on the internet. When the album art and tracklist were eventually uncovered, fans went into a frenzy. His last album was 2001's Drukqs.
