AotD: Requiem for a Dream

Original Soundtrack - Requiem for a Dream
The fact that the score for a dark cautionary tale about addiction could be used in The Lord of the Rings trailer right at the part where, like, a million orcs(?) come charging out into the battle of the millennium should display to you the magnitude of this score. Composed by Clint Mansell, performed by the always interesting Kronos Quartet and some machines on back up, this just might be the score of the millennium. Dark building strings play off of pulsing beats and beautiful interludes where the sun shines through. Even if you've never seen the film, or think it's too disturbing, this is a powerful journey.

Nice pick. I love the music in this film. But I hate how it's been appropriated all over the place. ESPN is even using it now in commercials for college football.

yeah, it certainly did get jacked all over the place. amazing record, though. this and the gattaca score are my two faves of recent years.

Will listening to this soundtrack make me think of the movie though?

It might, I won't lie to you. But I think if it has been long enough since you saw it, it shouldn't be a problem. That gattaca score is great, mk. The punch-drunk love score is also fantastic.
