In music business years, 5 years is a pretty long time to wait for a sophomore album, but in the case of Norwegian DJ Annie, that's about how long her fans have been waiting for a follow-up to 2004's excellent Anniemal. That follow-up, Don't Stop, was supposed to be released last year, but Annie decided to push it back, and then in November she left Island Records, which complicated things further.
"I own the masters, so I can do whatever I want to do. I might do it myself, on my own label," Annie said to Billboard.
So now, it seems that Don't Stop is definitely coming out this year, but Annie might self-release it, or put out a whole additional album.
"I actually have enough for two albums, so I don't know if I'm going to put out the one as it is, and one right after, or just some songs as ['Don't Stop'] with a couple that no one's heard. But I want to release a lot [this] year."
Good, three albums in 5 years, that sounds more appropriate. [Billboard]
