Anyone who’s seen Animal Collective play in the last couple of years will have been anxiously awaiting a new album from the band. Much of the Collective’s live set has been structured around new songs, which have been composed as a trio while longtime member Josh Dibb has been taking an extended hiatus. Now the impenetrable Animal Collectivewebsite has started to offer clues about a new record from the band, which is likely to be titled Merriweather Post Pavilion.
The album is due in January on Domino, and a tracklisting has been posted, via video, on the band’s website. It’s possible that some of the songs the band has been working on have been retitled for the record, causing confusion and speculation on the semi-official Animal Collectivemessage board. Although tracks such as “Taste” and “Brother Sport” can be previewed via many YouTube live recordings from the past couple of years.
Here’s what the tracklisting for Merriweather Post Pavilion is likely to look like [via Stereogum]:
01 In The Flowers 02 My Girls 03 Also Frightened 04 Summertime Clothes 05 Daily Routine 06 Bluish 07 Guys Eyes 08 Taste 09 Lion In A Coma 10 No More Runnin 11 Brother Sport
