Animal Collective Remix Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Zero"

Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ It’s Blitz leaked early and the band responded in double-quick time to make the album available digitally. Now, to make the vinyl release even more desirable, the band is releasing it with a free single featuring an Animal Collective remix of “Zero.”

The 7-inch single and album package is going to be extremely limited, but can be pre-ordered before the official street date of April 14. A mash up between “Zero” and Animal Collective’s “My Girls” would make a sublime pairing considering they are both built from raw Giorgio Moroder-esque backings. Anyone curious to hear Animal Collective’s reworking of “Zero” can pre-order the vinyl edition of the album here.

Moroder’s disco legacy is becoming extremely zeitgeist-y as 2009 unfolds, with former goth rockers the Horrors clamping some steely Italo Disco synths onto the backend of their comeback song “Sea Within A Sea.” And with Doves’ upcoming Kingdom of Rust album rumored to be heading in a similar direction, it can only be a question of time before pioneers such as Bobby Orlando and Shep Pettibone start getting their dues.
