The short five-date tour to promote Animal Collective’s Merriweather Post Pavilion was never going to sate the appetite of fans who rushed out and purchased vinyl copies of the record. So now, in the week that Merriweather finally comes out on CD, Animal Collective has announced a longer May/June tour of North America.
There will doubtless be a jubilant post-inauguration crowd at tonight’s (Jan. 20) homecoming show at the Grand Ballroom in New York City. Fans across the country will have to wait a little longer to hear the tracks from Meriweather performed live, but listed below are the full dates of the band’s forthcoming tour. The tour ends with an appearance at the ATP festival in upstate New York, which will also feature a rare Panda Bear solo performance.

I'm so mad. They added shows in New York and LA after their shows sold out, but the show in Chicago sold out in November and not only did they not add a date, they're not even coming back when they play the U.S. in May. It sucks.
It's really more of a matter of civic pride at this point. Obama's hometown and all that jazz, and we can't get a lousy second concert date. Boo to that Animal Collective.
Hah, I'm not trying to spam the site, but it's important that you understand how screwed up this is. The Metro, great venue that it is, holds 1100 people. I'm pretty confident that Animal Collective could've sold out a venue twice that size, and come back in May and sold out. We can't have every AC fan in Chicago driving up to Milwaukee.
Ha. That's true, but take it from me, there's not a lot of AC fans north of Milwaukee or west of Madison, so you probably have a real decent chance of getting tickets there.
It is kind of whack that they wouldn't hit the Windy City again though.
I'm soooo excited!!
Ditto!
Yes! I'll finally get to see them. I'll catch them in Minneapolis, methinks.

Mattycakes-Drive up to Milwaukee. Turner Hall is an awesome venue.

Metropolis is terrible! I probably am not going to go.
