Andrew Bird Streams ‘Hands Of Glory’ & Announces World Tour

With a week to go before the release of Hands of Glory, Andrew Bird is now streaming his second album of 2012 in its entirety. A companion piece to Break It Yourself, the new LP features alternate takes of that album’s tracks alongside covers of songs by Townes Van Zandt, the Handsome Family, the Carter Family and Alpha Consumer.

The Chicagoan also has plans for a very special worldwide tour. After playing around Europe next month, Bird will come Stateside for a series of shows focusing on “instrumental violin pieces amplified only by Bird’s signature giant Victrola horns.” Called “Gezelligheid” (Dutch for “cozy”) performances, Bird will hold two in New York and three in Chicago this December. After that, Bird heads to Latin America for a string of shows in cities chosen by fans willing to pledge funds on Songkick.
