Andrew Bird's 'Fever Year' Documentary To Open At New York Film Festival

Director Xan Aranda calls 2009 "an insane touring year - the apex of over a decade of hard work" for Andrew Bird, the virtuoso violinist and looper wizard who has been a force in genre-busting music for years now. Sensing the end of an era for his ability to maintain such rigorous touring schedules, Bird wanted to capture the last two shows of 2009 with more than mere internet videos or TV spots. He and longtime friend Aranda, the documentary's director, hatched a plan to make the year's last hurrah a full-length film, complete with concert footage, solo performances, and scenes of his recording process. Aranda describes the film as less a biopic than  "a snapshot of a time during which he became 'perfectly adapted to the music hall' – his risk and reward for being an undeniable creative force."

Fever Year will be debuting at the prestigious New York Film Festival on October 1st (6:15 EST) and 2nd (9:00 EST) at the Lincoln Center.
