Track review: Andrew Bird "Cataracts"

Prefix's fave of 2005, Andrew Bird, is set to release his new album Armchair Apocrypha March 20 via Fat Possum. While "Plasticities" received all the attention this morning (and deservedly so), the album is full of special tracks. "Cataracts" is a beautiful little subdued number, with Bird keeping the violin to a minimum until it finally blossoms after the whistling solo. That's right, Bird whistles a solo.

I found the new one online and before i knew it it was on my ipod (i know it's wrong)....all I can say is i cannot wait to buy it. it is gorgeous, epic and sweeping. One of the best things I've heard in awhile. Quite simply heartbreaking.way to go bird...and the art work is pretty fine too. This man is a simmering pot of surprises.
