Analogy Practice: Billy Corgan Is To Smashing Pumpkins as Axl Is To Guns N' Roses

Billy Corgan just wants to clear up any confusion about the use of the name Smashing Pumpkins. He is still the leader of the band, and the band still exists, even though seventy-five percent of the members (down from fifty in March) were not in the original line-up. On the band's (his) website, Corgan released the following statement:

I will never say to you what people say to me all the time, which is that 'I am the band'. I am not 'the band', I am just the leader of the band. I only want people around me who respect me and my music. I think that is a healthy thing to want, and is consistent with the ideas of holistic living.

Though Corgan says that he is not the band, none of the other original members have a presence on the website. If Corgan's not the band, then who exactly is? Hopefully it works out better for James Iha and that kid from Hanson. [Aversion]
