Amy Winehouse put on an amazing performance last night at Joe's Pub. The #1 artist in the U.K. effortlessly showed the crowd why there was so much buzz around her right now. It's one thing to listen to her on record, but it's a totally different experience to see her work her pipes live.
Here are a few notes on the show. Thanks to the Mish list for some of these:
- The Dap-Kings were part of her back-up band
- She was a little tipsy but in great spirits and made the crowd laugh
- Covered most of the songs on Back to Black
- Rumored Craigslist tix were going for $200 apiece
- She covered a Zutons song and also "That Thing (Doo Wop)" by Lauryn Hill
- She professed her love for Nas and then launched into "Me and Mr. Jones"
- Jay-Z, Mos Def, Dr. John, Nona Hendryx, Alice Smith, Tamar-Kali and Citizen Cope were reportedly in the building
