Did anyone expect the Amy Winehouse comeback to go smoothly? If so, some kind of Optimist of the Year award should be presented, because the first night of her proposed comeback tour ended in a predictable farce. Winehouse’s show in Belgrade on Saturday (June 18) started an hour late and went quickly downhill from there.
According to the Guardian she was booed onto the stage and appeared “unable to remember the lyrics to her songs. She dropped the microphone, mumbled through her songs and occasionally disappeared, leaving her band to keep on playing.” Naturally, video evidence of this disastrous comeback has surfaced, and you can see some of it in the clip below.
The Belgrade show has caused some dates on the tour to be cancelled, including one in Istanbul today and another in Athens on Wednesday. Her publicists are reporting that fans will find out "as soon as possible" whether the rest of the tour will continue. "Despite feeling sure that she wanted to fulfill these commitments, she has agreed with management that she cannot perform to the best of her ability and will return home," reads a statement.
