Track Review: Amerie - "Make Me Believe"

Idolator may have beat us in adopting Amerie as their official favorite female R&B singer, but that doesn't mean we're not fans here. Make Me Believe is from Amerie's upcoming third album Because I Love It, and brings the same percussive emphasis that "1 Thing" offered a couple years ago. While this clearly isn't the smash single that "1 Thing" was, its a solid track that builds plenty of momentum by the end.

The great thing about this girl, besides the fact that she's gorgeous and happens to have a pretty amazing voice, is that she gets some of the best out there manning the controls behind her. It was Rich Harrison (crafter of Beyonce's "Crazy in Love") who did the "1 Thing" beat, definitely one of the best in recent pop music years. I doubt that it's him behind this one as well, but somebody has obviously figured out that Amerie + Vintage funk/soul vibes = GOLD. I can't wait to hear more of this album.

I agree, Rich Harrison is pretty awesome. And as far as the album goes, I hope you like 80's New Jack Swing. If you do, then youll love the album.

hmm, not sure i like this''¦. The Original was sung by Patti Jo and produced (i think) by Curtis Mayfield; a hard act to follow. This cover by Amerie does no justice to the original.Nice try but if it aint broke''¦''¦
