AllOfMP3 has drama like your bipolar girlfriend. They've already been named as a main obstacle to Russia's entry into the WTO, and now they've been dropped by Visa. Visa cited concerns over intellectual property infringement and no longer honors purchases at the Russian MP3 store. As Boing Boing points out, there are alternatives, such as buying credit into an XROST prepaid card, which AllOfMp3 will gladly cash in.
It gets so much better, though. Apparently you can install a special AllOfMP3 music player, which will allow you to download special formatted tracks for free. The "Music for Masses" player is available in beta form as we speak, and a quick download of a certain Scientologist singer seemed to work as advertised. Speaking of advertising, AllofMp3 plans to make money showing it with their free service. They use a custom music file format that can only be used in their player, and we all know such proprietary schemes never get broken. In Soviet Russia, you own MP3 ... or however that joke goes.
