When we last left our intrepid Russian MP3 store, they had made their "Music for the Masses" player available to play any of the music on their site. We also predicted, in an offhand sort of way, that their DRM scheme would be broken, and a week later, it's happened. When Apple and Microsoft can't keep their copy protection technology from getting hacked, what chance did AllofMp3 have?
It's been a fun journey, but we'll try not to post about AllofMp3 again until the day they get shut down or unexpectedly incorporated into Amazon.ru. Next stop for hackers: the Zune! Let's see if they can break all land speed records and break the DRM before the Zune gets released (November 14th). That would be impressive.
How many folks out there have tried out the hacks that are out there? (With FairUse4WM and QTFairUse, there's plenty to choose from). I will admit to nothing, though it's possible my helper monkey may have converted some Rhapsody files I already own on vinyl.
