June 19 is the scheduled release date for the debut album from Aliens, the new band with ex-Beta Band members Robin Jones and John Maclean. To be titled Astronomy for Dogs, it will be released by Astralwerks. Joining Jones and Maclean in extraterrestrial music making is their friend Gordon Anderson, who was briefly in the Beta Band when it started out and has recently made music as Lone Pigeon. The band members call the new music a bit lighter than Beta Band stuff. Aliens have only announced U.K. tour dates for now, but are expected to invade North American shores later this summer.
