Rumors and rumblings of Blur recording new music have been going on long enough now that it’s hard to take anything too seriously, but the band’s Alex James has returned to the press with another vague tidbit.
In an interview with NME, he mentioned that Blur would be “getting together for a Christmas drink next week. We still see each other all the time, more since we were all living out of a suitcase” and adding that they’ll “probably record again.”
James also said that this doesn’t necessarily plan on Blur releasing a new record, saying "is there such a thing as an album? Does music have to come 12 tracks at a time?" He also said that he didn’t think Blur would get signed if they were coming up today, which sounds like trademark old-rocker crankiness to me, especially when you consider all the money that the Arctic Monkeys are making.
So there might be new Blur music on the horizon, and that continues to be a reason for excitement, let’s just hope they’re not a total tease. You can watch the interview here.
