The Replacements - Let It Be
Prefix's Justin Sheppard has already explored the impact of one of the Replacements' Great Records, and here's the other one, its predecessor. Named after the first song that came on the radio when they were thinking up a name, the group decided to replicate the Beatles' famous roof top performance for their cover. Unfortunately, when they got up to the roof, they realized there wasn't enough room to play. That's when the photographer snapped this picture of them, idle, slightly bored and confused, waiting for inspiration. It's the perfect visual image for a record packed with adolescence and frustrated love. Though Tim may be the overall better record, songs like "Unsatisfied" and "Androdynous" assure this record's place as one of the better rock albums of the 80s.
