2006 Reissue WeekMove D - Kunststoff
All I have to do is say German Techno and images of black turtlenecks and cold synths and vocals swirl around your head. Labels like Bpitch have to walk the thin line between authenticity and self-parody so delicately that you would think nothing good ever came out of the genre. You would be wrong, and Move D's Kunststoff is a perfect example of what can go right when the stark futurism of techno meets the ruthless efficiency of the Germans. It's not your fault, though, considering the record has been out of print for ten years, when it was buried along with the mid 90s electronic movement. A striking collection of forward-thinking dance music, there's nothing cold or removed about Kunststoff. It's thankfully been saved by City Centre Offices, and it's one of the best electronic records (re)released this year.
