Album of the Day: Liquid Liquid

Liquid Liquid: Liquid Liquid (1997 Comp)
Casually tossed into the post-punk genre for its early-'80s origin and the post-rock category for its loose instrumental funky vibe that influenced groups like Tortoise, Liquid Liquid's music was, in a lot of ways, disco revitalized (though with a healthy dose of noise). Despite having none of the love, peace, and unity of the earlier era's music, the members retained the rhythm focus and created dark, dance-ready funky grooves. To illustrate this fact, "Cavern," posted below, was lifted, in the words of Simon Reynold, "hook, (bass) line, and sinker" for one of the best (if not the best) old-school hip-hop classics, which primarily drew their beats from the '70s dance tracks that the genre grew out of initially. First person to tell me which one "Cavern" was used on wins absolutely nothing, because this is the easiest contest ever.

For some reason I thought you already put up a Liquid Liquid album.
