Album of the Day: Fennesz

2006 Reissues Week
Fennesz - Endless Summer
Endless Summer might be the most accessible inaccessible record ever. Put out of print by the slow demise of the Mego label it was released on, it is being reissued this month. Though the the record is not as immediately revolutionary as Fennesz's earlier Hotel Paral.lel, Endless Summer is all shimmers and shivers, a cool buzz hovering over a dying pop landscape. Though it isn't for everyone, there's something very unsettling, yet very human, about Fennesz's work. It's life, maybe, and it's what separates his work from so many other experimental producers.

Actually, like a phoenix from the proverbial flames... the re-issue is on Editions Mego, the new form of Mego. It will feature two extra tracks, one that is out of print and one that was unreleased, as well as being newly mixed by Fennesz.
