Now that Akron/Family has found a new home on the Dead Oceans label, they are wasting no time getting busy. Their new record, called Set 'em Wild, Set 'em Free, will be released on May 5. And to celebrate the release, the band is heading out on a series of dates to preview the new material. The guys will play residences in small, intimate venues in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and New York, and will also swing through Colorado and up to Canada for a few dates. For each stop on the tour, the band has handpicked opening acts like fellow Dead Oceans band Citay, Rock Plaza Central, and Larkin Grimm. The shows will feature collaborations between the openers and Akron/Family, and there will be no shortage of the extended jams and experiments that have shaped the band's distinctive and excellent live show. The tour kicks off in San Francisco on March 6. More information on Set 'em Wild, Set 'em Free will be coming shortly from the label, but you can find all of the tour dates here.
