Nary a day goes by lately without some exciting news about an up-and-coming L.A. indie band. We recently got news that the L.A. duo Qui made the great acquisition of picking up Scratch Acid/Jesus Lizard legend David Yow, the band signed to Ipecac, and will release an album soon. Now comes updates on two other Angeleno rock outfits establishing names for themselves: The Airborne Toxic Event (pictured) and No Age. The first band, which takes its name from the landmark Don DeLillo novel White Noise, has a three-song EP out, is picking buzz in England (where the band just announced a slew of festival apperances), and have been snatched up by the Kaiser Chiefs for some opening slots on this side of the pond. Catch a bit of what the buzz is about by listening to Airborne's "Does This Mean You're Moving On?" below. No Age is another noisy duo who've been heavily-tipped by Deerhunter's Bradford Cox. On August 28, FatCat will release a compilation of the band's assorted material under the title Weirdo Rippers. Randy Randall and Dean Spunt, who comprise the band, are heavily involved in what goes down at the L.A. noise-rock venue The Smell. Get a glimpse of the band in action via this footage we shot of them at SXSW.
