Aimee Mann done with new album

The Christmas season is jolly and joyful and all, but at a point you just have to move past it. Aimee Mann has been stuck in a yuletide rut as of late, with the release of last year's holiday album One More Drifter in the Snow and an upcoming Christmas themed tour. But after those gigs are wrapped up, Mann will finally shift back to non-holiday related material. Mann is all done with a new album she's calling Smilers, which she hopes to put out early next year via her Superego label. Follow on after the jump for details on the album...
Mann says Smilers is much more keyboard based than her previous work. In fact, she claims there isn't a single electric guitar to be found on the album. Instead, she says it's filled with "a lot of Moog" for an effect that "almost sometimes sounds like the Cars a little bit." New Wave Aimee! Maybe she'll bring back that crazy hairstyle she had back in her 'Til Tuesday days. Paul Bryan plays bass on the album and also produced it, a duty he handled on One More Drifter as well.
