Afghan Whigs Reunite, Curating ATP

Another titantic ’90s indie band has reunited: The Afghan Whigs, Greg Dulli’s genre-bending rock band, has announced plan to reunite for the first time in 13 years this summer, when it heads to ATP in London. But that’s not all: Dulli and company have been announced as the curators of this year’s I’ll Be Your Mirror Festival in Asbury Park, NJ, which goes down Sept. 21-23.

So what lead to the Afghan Whigs reunion? Well, part of it might have to do with Guided By Voices having to drop out of ATP London, as they have broken up yet again. That’s right, Guided By Voices are no more, again. But it sort of makes sense for Dulli to do this now: He’s been working with Mark Lanegan in Gutter Twins, but since Lanegan’s working on his own stuff, Dulli’s schedule was clear to reform the Whigs. Tickets for I’ll Be Your Mirror NJ go on sale in January.
