As someone who's attended his share of high school haunted houses and giant corn mazes in search of the perfect Midwestern Halloween experience -- or at least a really rad glass of hot cider -- I can claim a bit of knowledge in the "Midwestern horror" department. What's that? Adult.'s version of "Midwestern horror" is probably way creepier and more awesome than my boringly idyllic recaps of haunted hayrides at dusk? And that the Detroit-based electro duo are screening their film in conjunction with the release of new Adult. music? Alright, I'll shut up about the Midwest.
It's true: Adult., aka Adam Lee Miller and Nicola Kuperus, will screen their silent-experimental-horror film Decampment at two events, Oct. 16 at the Anthology Archives in New York City and Nov. 11 at the Silent Movie Theatre in Los Angeles. At each screening, the duo will provide live accompaniment with what they're calling "peculiar electronic horror music." Considering that Adult.'s regular season music is peculiar and electronic, the horror version will likely be better than a bushel full of taffy apples.
Adult. have also issued a corresponding series of limited edition 7"'s called the Decampment Trilogy through their label, Ersatz Audio. The releases are hand numbered and feature a limited, signed photographic print from Kuperus. Spook, there it is.
