For the umpteenth week this year, Adele's 21 is the number one album in the country, selling a healthy 124,000 copies this week, absolutely crushing the second place album (Foo Fighters, Wasting Light) by nearly four-fold. Adele has now moved close to 1.4 million units, a number not likely to be topped by anyone other than Lil Wayne (who is allegedly putting out an album this summer). I'm not sure I can even imagine the long-delayed Kanye-Jay-Z album putting up bigger numbers than Adele this year. But I'm probably wrong.
In other chart news, it was a good week for post-rock, as Explosions in the Sky hit the top 20, coming in at number 16 with 19,000 copies sold of their new album, Take Care Take Care Take Care. Then again, that's only 1/10 of what Adele sold. But still, I can't imagine any of the peeps in Explosions thought they'd be in the top 20. For more chart news, head to USA Today.
