It’s been a great year for Adele in terms of sales, but not so great in terms of her precious voice. The singer has had to cancel her upcoming 10-date North American tour due to a hemorrhage in her vocal chord, which is a recurrence of the problem that forced her to pull out of shows earlier this year.
You can almost see the stampede of industry executives rushing to protect her when stuff like this happens—she is, after all, one of the very few bankable assets the biz has at present—but to her credit Adele has left an earnest statement in response to the cancellation on her website.
“Guys, im heartbroken and worried to tell you that yet again im experiencing problems with my voice,” she wrote. “its ridiculous i know! i cant believe it myself. i follow all the advice im given and stick to regimes, rules and practices to the best of my ability but it seems to simply not be enough.” Although someone clearly needs to use the profits from 21 to give her a few lessons in punctuation, we wish Adele well in her recovery.
