Adam Yauch balls with top basketball talent in new documentary

In a week that has already seen Les Savy Fav bassist Syd Butler blog about hockey, we hear that fellow Brooklynite Adam Yauch has been hangin' with recent March Madness standouts Kevin Love and Michael Beasley. The Beastie Boy has directed the documentary Gunnin' for That #1 Spot, which will be premiering at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 28. The film focuses on a 2006 tournament of top high school standouts at Rucker Park that also included Duke's Kyle Singer and Arizona's Jerryd Bayess, among others. It appears there won't be any He Got Game-esque new music for the film, but according to the Tribeca's website, the film "combines two of [Yauch's] favorite things in his first non-concert feature documentary: the excitement of street basketball and some slammin' hip-hop tracks." I remind you that Prefix is not responsible for any puns that appear in promotional material. [Variety]
