It's hard to say that Adam Lambert lost American Idol. While "the winner," Kris Allen, will forever wear the ball and chain of being the less talented victor and no doubt be given a collection of saccharine pop to record, Lambert is slightly more free (depending on how much of his soul he had to sell to appear on the show in the first place) to explore his options. The first overture has come from Brian May, who, after playing with Lambert on the Idol finale, says that he wouldn't mind having him front Queen on a permanent basis. This offer isn't quite as bad as the time Fuel offered Chris Daughtry a place in the band, but Lambert could probably do better than channeling Freddie Mercury on a nightly basis. The collaboration that springs to mind is with Slash and Velvet Revolver, but perhaps Lambert is a talented enough singer that he just needs to find some people his own age and form a band. Of course if that doesn't work out, there's also the possibility that he could hook up with a mentor that's interested in starting Lambert's career rather than extending his own. [NME]
