Indie/major distributor ADA gets new head

If you read Pitchfork's interview with the founders of Sub Pop yesterday, you would have heard about the origins of ADA, a collaboration between Sub Pop, Warner Music Group, and the now-defunct Restless Records that meant to give indie labels major label-level distribution. Today it was announced that ADA has a new president, and in a  disastrous current market for music labels, the new guy was hired for his focus on the bottom line.

Mitchell Wolk,  a Certified Public Account and former V.P. of ADA, replaces Andy Allen, who was promoted to oversee all Warner indie music deals. Wolk's previous job of running ADA's day-to-day operations, and his training as an accountant, will probably mean more rigid distribution strategies of indie material covered by ADA. This may not be such a bad thing though; at least it'll mean bands can eat.
