Ad-Rock To DJ Tonight At Pussy Riot Benefit Concert

A month after his Beastie Boys bandmate Adam “MCA” Yauch died, Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz will make his first public performance tonight at a benefit concert in Brooklyn for imprisoned members of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot.

Ad-Rock will be spinning tunes from the DJ booth while Heliotropes, Shady Hawkins and TinVulva will perform live sets. The show, which is being put on by the feminist art group Permanent Wave, will be held at Death by Audio in Williamsburg and admission will be offered on a sliding scale basis with a minimum $7 donation.

Pussy Riot were charged with hooliganism and are still in jail and could be sentenced to seven years in the slammer for allegedly participating in a punk rock demonstration against Russian president Vladimir Putin.
