Action Bronson has been laying relatively low in the last few months, and deservedly so. The past few years saw him go from professional chef to stage-diving rapper to Vice-affiliated food personality in an impressively short time-frame, and while we loved seeing him on tv and at major festivals, we’re sure he wanted to get back to the basics and focus on what really matters- his music.
The time away from the media seems to have done him some serious good, as today, we’re getting the first real taste of what’s in store for his upcoming project Blue Chips 7000, called “Brother Jedidiah,” and if this is an indication of what’s to come, he’s about to have a serious album for us later this year.
The record brings on familiar names for fans of Bronson and his crew, with The Alchemist on production duties and Big Body Bes as a guest feature. Spitting over a funky, nostalgic beat, the kind of work Alchemist is commonly known for, Action Bronson does the major lifting, with impressive lines that prove the man just has bars for days. Big Body Bes does his part, bringing in a twinge of humor, proving his likeability and his ability to go toe-for-toe with Action Bronson, even when he’s not quite as lyrically capable as his best friend.
This track is not officially for Action Bronson’s upcoming record, but in actuality, serves as the first single released for The Good Book Vol 2, the second collection (the first was released in 2013) of songs by the Alchemist and Budgie that only sample gospel and religious pieces. Set to include a whopping 45 songs featuring Mobb Deep, Royce 5′ 9, Joyce Wright, Jeremiah Jae, and more, this is certainly not one to miss.
This project will be released on July 21 via BAUEWYK and pre-orders are available now.
