AC/DC shoot to thrill Wal-Mart customers exclusively

    Classic-rock lords AC/DC, joining the ranks of luminaries like The Eagles, Journey, and Garth Brooks, have reportedly reached a deal to distribute their new album exclusively through Wal-Mart stores.  The still-untitled album will be the band’s first since 2000’s Stiff Upper Lip, and is expected sometime this fall.

     

    AC/DC are clearly hoping the Wal-Mart deal helps move as many copies of the Eagles’ Wal-Mart only album (nearly 3 million copies since last summer).

     

    This deal is more forward thinking (making the album available exclusively in a place where a large percentage of your fans shop) than AC/DC has been in the past; they are among the lone holdouts that will not allow their albums to be sold digitally (except on Verizon Wireless as full albums).
