For the third straight year, the Beatles' Abbey Road was the number one selling vinyl record, moving 41,000 copies in 2011. What's incredible about that stat: that's an increase over Abbey Road's vinyl sales in 2010 (35,000) and 2009 (34,800). So that increase reflects the increase in vinyl sales over the last three years, but that increase hasn't vaulted another album to the top. It also sort of kills the idea that indie rock is leading the vinyl resurgence. Classic rock wins again. [RS]
