A$AP Rocky Unveils New Song “RAF” Starring Frank Ocean, Playboi Carti, Lil Uzi Vert, and Quavo

The epic collaboration premiered on Frank Ocean's blonded RADIO show

Update: The official version of the track has been released on Apple Music and can be streamed below.

Frank Ocean has been relentless this year, releasing new song after new song on his eclectic Beats 1 show, “blonded RADIO.” From “Chanel” to “Biking” [ft. Jay Z and Tyler, the Creator] to “Lens,” it has become necessary for any Ocean fan to tune into each episode. Now, the enigmatic singer has shared a new A$AP Rocky song entitled “RAF” with an all-star cast: Lil Uzi Vert, Quavo, and Mr. Ocean himself.

    🎶”Please don’t touch my Raf”🎶

As the song title suggests, each artist bases their bars off of the Belgian fashion designer, Raf Simons. The song’s instrumental features a repetitive, moody keyboard melody and a bass-heavy trap beat that rocks with a downtempo shrug. Rocky opens the track, rapping the song’s hook, “Please don’t touch my Raf.” Quavo and Lil Uzi Vert bring a younger, new energy to the track — and while they’re both less established as Rocky or Ocean — they hold their own. The song mostly sounds like a cut from A$AP Mob’s Cozy Tapes Vol. 1: Friends until Ocean comes in with his creative sing-rap flow. “I get Raf Simons ’cause I’m gifted / That means sometimes I get it and don’t even want it,” he raps, suggesting he’s above the Belgian designer’s hype.

Like several other songs premiered on “blonded RADIO,” there are two versions of “RAF.” Both are identical on the surface, but version two features a much more lively verse from Ocean. The overall audio quality on version two is also more pronounced and clear.

This episode was hosted by Ocean, Vegyn, and Roof Access. During the show, Ocean declared Andre 3000 the undisputed G.O.A.T. — he also praised The Beatles for helping him cure his writer’s block. They additionally shared an extended solo version of “Biking” without features from Jay Z and Tyler, the Creator.
