North Carolina's preeminent sample chopper 9th Wonder lets another track off his upcoming Dream Merchant Vol. 2 album slip into the blogosphere. This dreamy beat sounds like a throwback to the happy days of soul, and would be a nice soundtrack for a barbecue in late fall. Justus Leaguer Chaundon comes up with a nostalgic verse with a sing-songy flow, but Keisha Shontelle is clearly the star of this show. There aren't verses so much as sections to her work here, so she gets to show off the range of her pixie-ish voice with a few different styles.
Spine says this'll be the first single off Merchant. May or may not be the best idea for what's shaping up to be a record full of straight-up hip-hop, but it's still a hell of a song. Dream Merchant Vol. 2 comes out October 9th (get it?).
