The fifty most controversial albums of all time

Once again I took it upon myself to click fifty times so you are spared the trouble. And this particular list was a pretty tall order. While most lists are just fodder for a little debate or gratuitous ogling of the “fifteen hottest eighties video chicks,” some can meander into slightly disturbing territory. This particular list of the “50 Most Controversial Album Covers,” which Gigwise put together in response to the new James album having a baby and a gun on it, seemed pretty tame through the first few clicks. There’s the close-up of Mick Jagger’s peen on Sticky Fingers at forty-eight and a couple of covers that got in hot water for featuring smoking. The worm turns at forty-six with the cover of The Lords of Acid album Pussy. Something about that kitten freaks me out. It could be that it’s super imposed over a female’s bathing suit area. Though the list continues on through In Utero, the naked models on Country Life, the pubic hair on Amorica, forty-six continued to haunt me. Even when the good people at Gigwise mistook the dunce cap on Dark Side of the Spoon for a KKK hood, showed me the cover of both Jane’s Addiction albums and something called Carnivorous Erection, nothing beat the cat. As I scrolled through the top ten, I can say without reservation after viewing the cover for The Scorpions’ Virgin Killer and Mayhem’s Dawn of the Black Hearts that the cat was much more pleasant. Yikes! [Gigwise]

I've just had a flick through as well, I've got to say I think the most disturbing ones are the abstract ones that seem to stare straight at you through the screen....not nice!

I didn't know the Arctic Monkeys cover was controversial.
