Producer Carlos "Phantom of the Beats" Evans has filed a $2 million lawsuit against 50 Cent and Lil Kim that claims he was never paid royalties for the hit "Magic Stick," the titillating single that reached number two on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2003 and has sold over two million copies. Evans was paid $7500 for his production on the single. Atlantic Records lawyers claim it's merely an accounting issue due to the song's use of a sample.
Hm ... or maybe 50 just got tired of writing Evans' overlong sobriquet "Phantom of the Beats" on every check. Even gangstas get carpal tunnel, yo! Or maybe 50 was just embarrassed for ripping off "Magic Stick" over and over again (see "Candy Shop," "Peep Show," "Amusement Park") that he just wanted to sweep the whole thing under the rug.
