On Friday night, one of the trending topics on Twitter was #50andFloyd as the world got ringside seats to a developing Twitter fight between the rapper and the boxer. The two seemingly fell out with one another after 50 quit The Money Team promotions, a company devised to promote Mayweather in his boxing ventures. 50 then announced the launch of a new company called SMS, and Mayweather took offense. He speculated that SMS stood for "Similar Mayweather Show," "Sisters Managing Sports," and "Snakes Maneuver Slick" (nobody ever accused the boxer of being an Ali-like poet).
But perhaps the biggest punch came from 50 when he tweeted "I can't hang out with Floyd no more,I'm tired of running from manny pacquiao," thus implying that Mayweather is ducking a bout. This statement earned 6,000 retweets in a matter of minutes, and it seemed like the business and personal relationship between the two had been forever severed.
This morning, 50 is owning up to the whole mess. He's claiming the thing was a stunt at Mayweather's request. "I'm sick of all this nonsense Floyd asked me to act like were fighting cause no one was paying any attention after his 60 days," tweeted 50.
