One of Korea’s K-pop groups voted to have the most potential to break out in the United States is finally making their debut. Tomorrow, the group 2NE1 will be performing on U.S. soil for the first time at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The tour date is part of their ‘New Evolution’ World Tour which started in Seoul, South Korea.
It has also been confirmed that the group will be doing a Michael Jackson tribute for their two U.S. tour dates (dates below). Travis Payne most notable for his choreography work on Michael Jackson’s ‘This Is It’ tour had some great words to say about the group:
“They are the most amazing girl group that I’ve worked with, there isn’t any that compare (to them), and I’ve never thought that Korean musicians would be this amazing. There are a lot of times that their talent and dedication would move you; working with them, to a certain extent is also another affirmation of my abilities.”
Also on the same label (YG Entertainment) as the now global icon PSY and having been voted as the 2011 “Best New Band In The World” by MTV IGGY; the group hopes to have their infectious blend of electronic dance and hip hop music also make a statement. Their will.i.am produced English album debut is slated to be released at the end of 2012.
