The annual CMJ music festival has announced its 2008 lineup. The festival, which has music fans rushing to multiple venues all over New York City in a desperate attempt to see as many bands as possible, takes place on October 21-25. If you want to buy a badge for the festival it will cost somewhere between $75 and $750 and can be purchased here. But be quick, because the rates will rise after August 19.
Bands and artists scheduled to play CMJ include Broken Social Scene, Deerhoof, Beach House, Jay Reatard, Lee “Scratch” Perry, A Place to Bury Strangers, Gang Gang Dance, and about a billion others. This link on the CMJ site will take you to a full list of bands confirmed to appear. Details about the film festival will follow shortly and information on panels for the event can be found here. “A New Media Fat Trimming Session” conjures up a picture of various media moguls doing Pilates, which is a most unwelcome image on a Thursday afternoon. Feels a little like last year, but last year was fun! Hey Chris I think we were standing next to one another at the Yo Majesty gig? Hey how was the All Points West gig!!? Man I wanted to check that OUT!
the CMJ 2010 lineup has already been announced! i have no idea why there is barely any information on it anywhere, but if you want to see the lineup go to http://cmj.com/marathon/ it looks really good this year.
Sure is a shame that this runs mostly during the week! I'd love to see a few of these bands....

OOOOOOH!!!! The NewNo2 are playing! That's Dhani Harrison's band. Their EP is glorious.
New No 2 - weird. I just met two of those guys at a bar in LA this week.
